DANCE PARTY at Eastlake Thursday May 9, 2024

Hello Dancers,  

  You are invited to a DANCE PARTY this coming Thursday May 9, 2024, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista, with the wonderful DJ Bing Villafuerte. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, and beverages. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. DJ Bing will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  A mild and dry night is currently forecast, again.

  DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A CINCO DE MAYO & MEXICAN NIGHT DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake this past Thursday, May 2nd, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, on a mild and dry night.  There were 65 in attendance, third highest of the year so far, thanks in part to 5 first-timers, and visiting V.I.P. dancers Bert and Lennie Velasco.  Here are 9 photos from last Thursday's Dance Party.  Most were copied from earlier Facebook posts:

 

  LADIES BY EASTLAKE.  Early in the evening Gemma, Janet, Annie, Elaine, Liz, Nora and Nedy posed lakeside for the photo above.

 

 

  LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6pm to 7pm, and after the blessing for about 20 minutes, until ballroom and line dancing alternated until the end of the party.  In the photo above, Bert Velasco was teaching a fox trot line dance to the music of "Somewhere In Time" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZKnvOva9Ek ).

  UPCOMING EVENTS. In the photo above, "THE RING GIRLS" were holding the signs with the schedule for upcoming Eastlake dances. We see Nora, Lolit, Merely and Mary Jane.

 

 

  BALLROOM DANCING was in abundance.  Dancing the blending of ballroom and line dancing, we see in front Josie & Nedy and Edith & I dancing the waltz line dance to "Les Bicyclettes De Belsize" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF45xpG5lLQ ), in the photo above.

 

 

  SPECIAL PERFORMANCE.  "The Eastlake Dancers" performed a special line dance called "Pizziricco"  ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U9dxcIL8wA ).  They were Lolit, Valerie and Roland in front, followed by Irish, Merely and Mary Jane in back.

 

 

  WINNING COUPLES in Cinco de Mayo attire posed for the photo above.  They were DJ Bing & Janet, Irish & Roland, Faye & John, and Isabel & Chris. Josie, Rei and Lydia helped hand out prizes, and Rei donated some prizes.

 

 

  WINNING SINGLES in Cinco de Mayo attire posed for the photo above.  There were too many winners for one photo, so in this photo we see Liz, Edna, Manny, Beth, Nedy, Lolit, Melba, Myrna, Mary Jane, Alice, Estrelle, Gemma, Sunshine and Elsie.  Other winners (who you can see in Facebooks) were Amor, Annie, Elaine, Josie, Karina, Merely, Rossana, Sheila and Valerie.

 

 

 GRAND PRIZE WINNER. In a break from the usual process of random selection from among all the winners to give some prizes, SUNSHINE was selected to get a "grand prize" for the best Cinco de Mayo attire.  Sunshine was judged to be the best by Edith's three kids in attendance, Valerie, Stella and El Conde, and they posed for the photo above.

A DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake this past Thursday, April 25th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, on a mild and dry night.  There were almost 60 in attendance, thanks in part to 3 first-timers, and visiting V.I.P. dancers Bert and Lennie Velasco.  At one point Bert Velasco taught a foxtrot line dance to the dancers.   SPECIAL PERFORMANCE.  "The Eastlake Dancers" performed a special cowboy line dance called "Cowboy Style"  ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk7jQo8B-7E ).  They were Lolit, Irish and Valerie in front, followed by Merely and Liz, with Eva, Roland (hidden) and Mary Jane in back.

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING was in abundance. Faye and John danced in Nedy's selfie photo above.  It looks like it was a swing dance.

  "THE RING BOYS" appeared for the second time.  Holding the signs with the schedule for upcoming Eastlake dances we see Chito, Willy, Chris and John.

 

 

  SPECIAL PERFORMANCE.  Four of "The Eastlake Dancers" performed a special high energy line dance to the song "Funky Tonight"  ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8MwK8C6Xvo ).  They were Roland with Valerie, Irish and Lolit behind him.

 

 

  JUDGE EDITH was happy with her fancy animal print attire, but since she was a judge, she could not win a prize.

 

 

  WINNING COUPLES in Animal Prints attire posed in the photo above, and they vied for prizes. The winning couples were Elaine & John, Roland & Irish, Connie & Ric (who took this photo), Merely & Willy, Remy & Chris, and Ditas & Ver.  John was wearing a shirt with birds of paradise flower design, but the judge qualified his birds of paradise as an animal print. 

 

 

 WINNING SINGLES in animal prints posed for the photo above. There were about 30 winners, the most ever on a Thursday night contest night, and too many to name.  Josie also donated prizes, and Josie and Lydia handed prizes to the prize winners.

AN APRIL BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake this past Thursday, April 4th, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, on a cool but dry night, before light rain.  There were almost 70 dancers in attendance  again, thanks in part to three 1st-timers, and once again it was close to the all-time high attendance for Thursday night dancing at Eastlake.   UPCOMING SCHEDULE FOR EASTLAKE THURSDAY DANCES were displayed by Ring Girls Merly, Remy, Elsie and 1st-timer Lisa.

 

 

 BALLROOM DANCING was in abundance. Ver and Ditas danced in the photo above.  It looks like it was a cha cha.

 

 

  THE BIRTHDAY CAKE was another marvelous creation by Myra (Veronica), featuring strawberries, peaches and other fruits.  The names of 5 of the birthday celebrants were not known when the cake decorations were put in place.

 

 

 

A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION was held for 10 April celebrants, surrounded by lots of photographers, so a clear photo of all 10 was impossible.  In any case, the 10 celebrants were Myrna, May, Fred, Mark, Ping (hidden), Ver (hidden), Karina, Angie, Yolanda and DJ Bing.

Hello Dancers, 

 Happy Easter.!!  You are invited to an APRIL BIRTHDAYS DANCE PARTY this coming Thursday April 4, 2024, at Eastlake Shores, 2050 Lakeshore Drive, Chula Vista, with the spectacular DJ Bing Villafuerte. There'll be lots of dancing, fun, food, beverages, balloons, and roses for birthday ladies. It's a "private party" and this is your invitation.  Dancers are welcome to bring a dish of food to share. DJ Bing will play for line dancing 6pm-7pm, and mixed ballroom & line dances until 10pm.  A cool but dry night is currently forecast. So, if your birthday is in April, please come to your party.

  DIRECTIONS: Take H Street east to Eastlake Drive.  Go right one block, then turn right onto Lakeshore Drive. Then, turn left immediately into the parking lot of 2050 Lakeshore Drive.  The Eastlake Shores Clubhouse is behind the gated fence.

A DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake this past Thursday, March 21st, with DJ Bing Villafuerte, on a mild and mostly dry night.  There were 65 dancers in attendance, thanks in part to three 1st-timers.  It was close to the all-time high attendance for Thursday night dancing at Eastlake that we had at the St. Patrick's Party. Once again, there was a lot going on.  Here are 6 photos from last Thursday's Dance Party.  Most were copied from earlier Facebook posts:

 

  LADIES BY EASTLAKE.  Early birds Rei, Janet, Nora, Edith, Liz and Valerie posed lakeside in the photo above.

 

 

  LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10pm. In Nedy's selfie photo above, we see Jhosie next to first-timers Sol and Morena in the front line, with Beth, Nora and Estrelle behind them.

 

 

  BEFORE EATING, dancers posed for the group photo above. Nedy gave a blessing for the food, and thankfulness for bringing us all together.

 

 

  BALLROOM DANCING was in abundance. In Nedy's selfie photo above, we see Valerie dancing with Romy in what appears to be a cha-cha or swing. 

 

 

  THE DEBUT OF "THE RING BOYS".  Holding the signs with the schedule for upcoming Eastlake dances we see Roland, Mark, Michael and Chris.  Someone came up with the idea of replacing Ring Girls with Ring Boys this week, and judging by the cheers that the Ring Boys got from the women, it was a very good idea. Note that there is NO DANCE this coming Thursday in honor of Holy Thursday.

 

 

 A LINE DANCING SPECIAL PERFORMANCE, in the photo above, was performed by The Eastlake Dancers group, to "Tragedy" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC_TNtVgyCw ).  In front we see Irish and Connie, with Mary Jane, Lolit and Liz behind them, and Valerie and Roland in back.

A ST PATRICK'S DANCE PARTY was at Eastlake this past Thursday, March 14th, with DJ Nickie Bascos, on a cool and dry night.  There were just over 70 dancers in attendance, thanks in part to three 1st-timers.  It was an all-time high attendance for Thursday night dancing at Eastlake.  LINE DANCING was non-stop from 6 to 7pm, and off and on with ballroom dances until 10pm.  WINNING COUPLES with St Patrick's party attire posed in the photo above, while Judge Edith conducted the random prize-awarding ceremony.  In the photo above we see Bing (with Janet out of view), Charlie & Nida, Roland & Irish, Connie (Ric took the photo), Eva & Dwayne,  John & Elaine, Ver & Ditas, and Frank & Rima.  Cesar & Fe were also winners, but were not in this photo.  Josie donated some prizes and Rei & Lydia helped with prize distribution.
